Previews of Fionuir's Mural and Dark Water

I've put the first chapters of my sword and sorcery novel, Fionuir's Mural, and my paranormal romance novel, Dark Water, on my blogs for you to check out.

Fionúir’s Mural is the first book of the Purification Trilogy, a coming of age story in the swords and sorcery genre, an unforeseen hero’s quest set in a world called Eilir.

This is the story of a 13 year old boy in exile and out of favor who discovers himself the subject of a 250 year old mural painted by the prophetess Fionúir, depicting two famous historical battles and one that has yet to occur.  It is about the boy’s quest across foreign lands to discover who the other figures depicted alongside him in the mural are and what part they play in his life and in Fionúir’s prophecy.  It is about the boy discovering who he truly is and what he is capable of and mastering that knowledge to face his world to overcome adversity and defeat the enemies who would see him and his family dead.  He is helped by a dream companion who has been with him since his youth, a mentor, who turns out to be the spirit of one of the heroes of the first battle depicted in Fionúir’s Mural.  It is about breaking with tradition and doing what works, blazing a trail instead of following the beaten path.  It is about perseverance and honor.  It is about finding true friends and true love.  The time for the final battle of Purification approaches.  It about who dares… wins.

Dark Water is a personal empowerment story in the paranormal romance genre, the first book of the Dark Man Trilogy (2nd book Taming the Inferno and 3rd book Taming the Storm).

This is the story of 3 women from 3 generations of a family haunted since the 17th century. Their ancestor Katherine defeated an unwanted suitor and the sorcerer that was his accomplice, in doing so trapping the demon the sorcerer had summoned in this world to bend her to their will. Ever since this demon, the Dark Man, has haunted her descendants. 300 years later a family tragedy finally brings these 3 women together to fulfill their ancestor's prophecy that her descendants would one day defeat the Dark Man. But fate has brought them face to face with descendants of both their ancestor's suitor and his sorcerer, and the final battle for domination looms. They must decipher the meaning of the prophecy and use it to survive. In Taming the Tides Bea discovers her gift and her place in the prophecy with the help of her grandmother, aunt and cousin. It is about Bea learning to use her power to free herself from her family’s designs and the Dark Man. She must succeed to protect her new found love and her dreams of a future free of the Dark Man.

Imbolc Update

Dear Friends:

As I mentioned in my previous Sabbat update, I tried to send out Sabbat greetings as I’ve been doing for years using my Telus e mail account, but for the last few months it hasn’t allowed me to do this. I keep getting messages telling me “too many recipients per hour.” After working fine for years, now Telus tech support is telling me that even though nothing has changed in their system, I can now only send mail to 10 people at a time. So I’m posting my Imbolc greetings here.

We’ve just had our first meeting for Vancouver Pagan Pride 2012. I’m looking forward to continuing what we started when we took it over last year and doubling the attendance yet again. The tentative date pending city of Surrey approval is 18 August 2012.

In the coming year I’ll be attending the following gatherings to teach:

·         Heartland Pagan Festival in May 2012.

·         Southern Delta Church of Wicca event 10 – 13 May 2012 in Shelby Park, Millington, Tennessee.

·         PPD in Augusta, Georgia, in October 2012 (still to be confirmed).

I’ve just released my first books of fiction. The first is the first book of a sword and sorcery trilogy which I’ve written under my mundane name, C. A. Ennis. It’s called the Purification Trilogy and the book is Fionúir’s Mural. You can check it out at my C. A. Ennis Fantasy Blog. The second is a paranormal romance which is the first book of the Dark Man Trilogy: Dark Water, which I’ve written under the pseudonym Carrie Bryce. You can check it out at my Carrie Bryce blog. Both are now available as e books on Smashwords. Both are currently in the review process as print on demand books at Amazon’s Createspace and should be available for order by the middle of February.

Incidentally, it was my wife who created the covers. If you're looking for a cover for one of your works, check out her covers site at: http://coversbylaurel.com/

The first print run of my book Pagan Religions: A Manual for Diversity Training, the updated version of my original book The Law Enforcement Guide to Wicca, has sold out and the publisher has announced a reprint. It is available for sale at: http://www.chapters.indigo.ca/books/Pagan-Religions-Manual-Diversity-Training-Kerr-Cuhulain/9780971005068-item.html?cookieCheck=1

I’ve released a book of self empowerment which grew out of the daily affirmations that I post on Twitter, Facebook, and Google+: How To Be Glorious: Day By Day Empowerment. This book is the next step in the the cycle begun with my earlier Llewellyn books on Warrior philosophy, Wiccan Warrior, Full Contact Magick, Magickal Self Defense, and Modern Knighthood. It’s about taking charge of your life instead of letting your life take charge of you. It’s available as an e book from Smashwords and as a print on demand book from Amazon.com.

My book Modern Knighthood: Unleashing Your Inner Power to Master Yourself and the World has been out on Smashwords.com since December as an e book, but now it is out as a print on demand book at Amazon.com.

If you’re into cooking, check out my recipe blog now too: Cauldron and Chalice. And If you’re looking for Sabbat recipes, check out my cookbook Ancient Recipes for Modern Kitchens. This is a collection of ancient recipes adapted for the modern kitchen, organized into the 8 Sabbat seasons and presented with a brief description of their history. The oldest recipe in there is over 6,000 years old. If you’re looking for recipes for your Esbat or Sabbat, this is the book for you. This is a Smashwords e book and a print on demand book from Amazon.

Just a reminder to anyone interested in studying with us in the Order of Scáthach: We’ve changed our mentoring system so people who want to study with us can check out our mentors on line at our training blog and choose one to work with. We’re also doing Skype conference calls twice monthly for our on line students to improve their learning experience: I’ll be hosting one session and Lady Devenir will be hosting the other. I’ve had some fabulous Skype sessions with on line students so far. Of course, if you're living here in British Columbia or in one of the other locations that we have preceptories, you can train with us face to face. The Preceptories in the Lower Mainland include:

·         Surrey Motherhouse

·         Tri Cities Preceptory

·         Bifrost Preceptory

Check out the Order of Scathach’s YouTube channel for our training videos and monthly affirmations. All of the lessons of the Order of Scathach’s training cycle have been uploaded as mini video lessons now.

And finally, our youth group, Scathách Kids, is now fully operational. Please check it out at: http://scathachkids.wordpress.com/

Hope you have a wonderful Imbolc.
